Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.

There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

Under the sign of passion – a text of the Portuguese poet Regina Guimarães – is our icon. Passion is to reveal great enthusiasm for something, favourable encouragement or opposite to something.
It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.

A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.

The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.

We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

dstgroup develops five R&D projects worth €18 million

Construir

The Braga-based group won, in the last few months, the approval of five research and development projects supported by European funds, in a global investment that amounts to around 18 million euros, 2.7 million of which assumed by the business group led by José Teixeira.

Projects underway over the next three years focus on key areas: from the circular economy, to the decarbonisation of cities, to sustainable energy management and the monitoring of the oceans and space, are being developed in close collaboration with 36 partners, involving companies and institutions linked to the national and international scientific and technological system. With the participation in these projects, dstgroup is committed to innovation and "intends to leave a mark on the evolution and technological development of the country, aligning its activity with seven of the UN Sustainable Development Goals", he justifies in a statement.

The group takes the leadership of four of the five research projects, through the subsidiaries dst (civil construction and public works), dstsolar (renewable energies) and dstelecom (telecommunications), in network with the companies innovationpoint and bysteel fs, also from the universe of dstgroup.

From the circular economy to the monitoring of the ocean and space

Approved under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism - EEA Grants, under the Environment Programme, the CirMat project - CIRcular aggregates for sustainable road and building MATerials - is coordinated by the construction company dst, together with two Portuguese partners, the University of Minho and the Instituto Superior Técnico, and a Norwegian partner, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The main objective of CirMAT is the development of innovative construction materials from construction and demolition waste and by-products, to demonstrate their application in buildings and infrastructure for communication routes. In addition, it is proposed to communicate the environmental, economic and social advantages of this type of circular aggregates, namely through the development of Environmental Product Declarations, and to develop manufacturing processes associated with an industrial scale.

In turn, dstelecom is part of the team of two projects from the “Portugal 2020” programme, approved within the scope of a call for flagship projects from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), becoming the only Portuguese company that collaborates in more than one project simultaneously. At K2D, an acronym for Knowledge and Data from the Deep to Space, the telecommunications company takes on the coordination of the research project, in partnership with entities from the National Scientific and Technological System and MIT. The research, to be developed within the scope of the MIT Portugal Programme, corresponds to the challenge of guaranteeing the sustainable evolution of the land, through the monitoring of terrestrial systems, anticipating their critical failures. K2D addresses this challenge by proposing the development of a global scale and totally disruptive monitoring system for the oceans, from the depths to the surface, through remote sensing and satellite information, which allow a holistic knowledge of the earth's global systems. Dstelecom also participates in the Aeros Constellation project, which aims to develop a nano satellite platform as a precursor to a future constellation to explore, monitor and enhance the oceans and space, in a sustainable way, and thus leverage scientific and economic synergies.

With a focus on energy management, dstsolar is a leading promoter of the Batteries 2030 and Building HOPE research projects. The first is a mobilizing project within the scope of Portugal 2020 and is based on the national and European strategic guides for the decarbonization of cities, through the integration of renewable energies and electric mobility, proposing the development of the batteries of the future, catalysts of sustainable decentralized electrical production and self-sufficient. Complementarily, the project aims at the conception and development of technologies related to new approaches to the decentralized production of renewable energy and platforms that aim at efficient use of energy, in a logic of energy communities. The companies dst, bysteel fs and innovationpoint also participate in the work team of this project. In the case of Building HOPE, developed in co-promotion with Carnegie Mellon University, under Portugal 2020, and with the participation of innovationpoint, the objective is to develop and validate a tool for Holistic Optimization of Prosumed Energy of buildings, which allows redefining  building energy management practices in the context of smart urban environments. The technology resulting from this project will add new dimensions to the concept of energy management and expand the capabilities of energy management systems.

The approval of these five projects in the different areas of intervention of the dstgroup is, in the opinion of José Teixeira, chairman of the Board of Directors of the dstgroup, “a reflection of the dstgroup's concern and exploration of new business models but also a recognition of the innovation capacity in the frontier areas of knowledge. ”
