The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

dstgroup initiates the Postgraduate course in Management at the Minho University

Construir

dstgroup and the University of Minho (UMinho), in Braga, signed a cooperation protocol today, with a view to strengthening the already close association between the two entities. On the occasion, the protocol for the development of a Postgraduate Program in Management was established. The course is to be taught by UMinho to dstgroup's senior management, with the aim of providing participants with the skills to better perform their role in the organization in which they operate and boost their career advancement.

The objective of this personalized training program, which starts on September 27th, is to provide participants, mainly qualified in engineering, with management tools that allow them to assume responsibility for managing complex projects and large teams.

The postgraduate program was designed by UMinho’s School of Economics, in partnership with dstgroup, thus meeting the training needs of its most qualified workers. In addition to the conventional offer, the School of Economics and Management through the UMinhoExec develops customized programs that meet the needs of the Portuguese business and institutional enterprises.

The focus on this type of qualified and specialized higher education is, for José Teixeira, Chairman of the dstgroup Board of Directors, “a fundamental milestone of personal and professional individual development, but above all it is a way to improve relative competitiveness and build businesses with greater economic value". “Regardless of their position within the group, every worker should look at his or her area of operation as a business and make the most of it, and to do that, one has to master the rational, clear technique and business models, aligning strategic thinking with business”, he stresses. He adds that “the duty to arm staff with more knowledge and science lies with companies and at the same time it is a responsibility that they must take as an opportunity: companies have an economic interest in the training provided to their workers and must have the budget to promote it. Mastering of economics and management complemented by areas of social psychology and behavioural economics will provide the group with economic and competitive advantage to see what it could not perceive”.

The ultimate goal is to work the mind. “We aim that by the end of post-graduation, the mental plasticity of our staff is greater and more flexible, that they are better prepared for all changes, they have acquired Darwinian behaviour for the success in new challenges,” concludes José Teixeira.

The postgraduate program will have a system of continuous assessment and will be taught on Fridays and Saturdays at the UMinho facilities.
